GE-IP Launches Ambitious Innovation Showcase

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, GE Intelligent Platforms (GE-IP) will kick off their traveling Innovation Showcase event in Canada.  The showcase will quickly come to the US with the first stop scheduled in Brookfield, WI, on May 15th.  The showcase will continue to travel across the US and the world throughout 2012.  Details and locations can be found at http://www.ge-ip.com/showcase.

RX3i can now Support up to 255 PROFINET IO Devices

 The PACSystems RX3i PROFINET Controller (PNC) module, IC695PNC001, connects a PACSystems RX3i controller to a high-speed PROFINET local area network. It enables the RX3i controller to communicate with IO-Devices on the LAN. The PNC provides all the functions, services, and protocols required for certification as a PROFINET IO Version 2.2 IO Controller, running at both 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps.

GE Intelligent Platforms recently released PROFINET Controller (PNC) firmware version 1.20 which increases the number of nodes that a RX3i controller can connect to.  PACSystems CPUs with PNC modules of Revision 1.20 or later can now support configurations with up to 255 PROFINET IO deivices, an increase from 128 from previous revisions.  The maximum number of PROFINET IO devices connected to a single PNC in that configuration is 64 IO devices.

The PNC can be field upgraded to firmware version 1.20 using the Winloader firmware upgrade utility and upgrade kit 82A1790-MS10-000-A2, which can be downloaded from http://support.ge-ip.com.

You will also need to download Proficy Machine Edition Version 7.0 SIM8 update also available at the GE-IP support website to add this functionality.

Hazardous Area Approvals for Redundancy Power Modules

Weidmuller’s new PRO-H Series power supply range now offers Zone 2 ATEX hazardous area approvals in addition to the existing Class 1 Div. 2 approval it already had, providing new options for process industry users. The new approvals are inclusive of the entire PRO-H line, including two redundancy power modules. Hazardous area approvals coupled with excellent stability against fluctuations in input voltage, ambient temperature variations and EMI make these compact, DIN-rail mounted modules a logical solution for power sensitive loads in industrial applications.

PRO-M Power Supply Extension Modules

Weidmuller introduces a new group of complimentary devices to further enhance their line of PRO-M switch mode Power Supplies. These devices expand the ability and functionality of the existing PRO-M line, which is designed and optimized for machinery and factory automation applications. Weidmuller’s new products include two (2) new redundancy modules, a capacity module and a convenient relay module.
